More H50

But cut to spare the space.

I really do feel like this ep was cobbled together from different fanfics I swear I've read.

First, fandom called that whole "Shelburne must be Ma McGarrett."

-OK, fine. But why was she hiding? Including hiding from her kids? Or was she hiding from her husband, as well? But Joe was heavily involved with the hiding part, so surely McGarrett pere was in on it.
-The Yakuza hit the car. We presume it was targeting McG pere. But if it wasn't? Is McG mere some super sekrit person, who would have been more of a target?
-The Yakuza was under the influence of Wo Fat. Possibly at the time of the car bombing, was that definite? I don't recall. Now, Wo Fat is at odds with the Yakuza.

WHICH BRINGS THE NEXT BIT ALONG.

-Wo Fat made it far, far too easy for McG to catch him. He also made it clear he butchered Hiro Noshimuri in the hotel bathtub. Wo Fat was then imprisoned in Halawa- which is the same facility that he waltzed into and out of, with no problem, to murder Victor Hesse. We have heard nothing about any shake-ups in the staffing of Halawa, so it seems that McG just threw Brer Rabbit into the briar patch. IN POINT OF FACT:

-AFTER Wo Fat was imprisoned there,THEN scummy dirty cop Baldwin brother hatched his plot to torment Chin. Which, seriously, makes next-to no sense to me. But, it did get sdc Baldwin bro out of Halawa. Is he the new crew, since Wo Fat had his major falling-out with the Yakuza? Now he's on the outside, to do Wo Fat's bidding? While Wo Fat is safely in prison, away from the Yakuza on the streets?

-The Yakuza killed Wo Fat's CIA handler, in retaliation for Wo Fat killing Hiro Noshimuri. Why did Wo Fat kill Hiro, again? I've lost track. Was it merely because he wasn't playing the way Wo Fat told him to? Was he supposedly in on the whole Shelburne scam? Joe White said Hiro had lots of these little shacks around the countryside- what's the connection between Hiro and Ma McG? For that matter, Hiro was linked with the now-deceased governor, was she linked with Ma McG, as well? Was that link separate from the governor's like to McG pere?

-And let's not forget, Wo Fat said Shelburne killed his father. Joe White said he was acting as Shelburne to do shit like that. Why, then, did McG pere ask Wo Fat about Shelburne in the meeting in the governor's office? AS IF McG PERE DID NOT KNOW, HIMSELF? Did he not know? Which would bring us back to Ma McG hiding from hubby as well as kids. As I think about it, why did Joe call Ma McG to tell her he'd have to move her again, because Steve was asking questions and getting close?

-So. Joe White finally took Steve to his mother. Why now? Because Wo Fat is in Halawa? It would be a cinch to find a new crew to work with- cue sdc Baldwin bro! Was the Chin boondoggle just a... fringe benefit? That Wo Fat would let him be mean to an easy target on H50 in order to get out? I can't quite find any way to link Wo Fat to making Chin the fall guy.

IN CONCLUSION:

-just like the finale of season one, we end season two with the team divided, distracted, in different physical locations. And did I mention, stressed?

First, Kono's affair with Adam, which had zero lead up, and therefore feels painfully contrived, but the writers are hammering that plot point into the ground. Chin, quite naturally, is not happy. But we didn't see him explode at her about it. She's been dumped into the water with hands and feet bound, but I don't particularly feel worried about her. Did Chin notify Adam while he was driving home to Malia? Or will Kono free herself with her own pure BAMF awesomeness? I hope for the latter, since her character is feeling a little OOC these days, compared with season one. I still find the Adam/Kono TWUE WUV affair perplexing poorly drawn.

Chin is mad as hell, naturally, at sdc Baldwin bro. I am not really sure what he would do, could do, will do. The whole "tormenting you because you got away with being a dirty cop, even though you weren't really a dirty cop" was just... stupid. Apparently the show runners felt that he needed an enemy? So they threw sdc Baldwin bro in his path? I are confused.

Steve. Oh, Steve. I can't even imagine any reason that would persuade me that Ma McG had to stay hidden from him, not after McG pere was offed. For that matter- is this REALLY his mother? Really, truly? Why reveal herself now? If she was so paranoid about Wo Fat that she had to stay hidden all this time, why would she believe that merely having him in prison would make her safe? Or does she think that, with the CIA bowing out, Wo Fat is now in a position of weakness? Perhaps she caught the same Female Stupidity Disease that seems to have infected Kono, with her mad, passionate affair with the HEAD OF THE YAKUZA?

But still. I cannot imagine any way that this will be a good thing, for Steve. Only more lies, deceit, and manipulation for him. Is Ma McG gonna move back to Hawaii now, take over the house? Maybe Steve can room with Danny in his tiny latest-in-a-long-line-of-crappy apartment?

And more importantly, what about Mary? Why was Joe revealing Ma McG to Steve, ONLY? Once again, I don't think Joe White is the upstanding father figure Steve was raised to believe he was. I have bad, sad feelings for Mary, when she finds out that not only was her mother hiding from her, but that her brother was keeping her out of the loop, too. Because, no matter how quickly Steve tells her, it will feel like a slap in the face that Steve was told first.

But the worst, the most blatant invented-purely-for-turmoil, has to be Danny's story. So, suddenly Stan is moving to Vegas? I mean, Stan would have to have a major investment in Vegas to actually go there to live. He lives in Hawaii because he's developing property there- so he's suddenly giving up his Hawaii connections and switching to Vegas? Whiplash, much, Stan? As for the custody, well. Have the show runners EVER consulted with experts on family law, before they start these stories? Drag Rachel through the mud? I hardly think that would be necessary. He moved FROM NEW JERSEY to follow his daughter to Hawaii, what judge would dismiss that as irrelevant? And are we going to see Danny trying to balance H50 with being a full-time single father, is that the way this is supposed to go now?

-I don't think we ever got a solid sense of last season's finale, if Rachel had been threatened by Wo Fat and that was why she led Danny on about her pregnancy, with him telling her that OF COURSE he would go with them to NJ- except, yanno, he got all distracted, and did not leave. Did Wo Fat up the ante this time, forcing Stan out and telling Rachel she HAD to get Danny out of the way?

To be honest, I am not sure what would make me feel satisfied with results from this finale. You know, when next season rolls around.
