After staff meeting
I had thought the boss was going to pitch us the other, as-yet-unassigned, duties that our two departing staffers were leaving. Not so much. He only mentioned two of them, and it was jokingly.
We went over the basics of the ILS migration, and also about the new display shelving we are going to get in for media. Which was also the first that I heard about the CDs going out on the shelves, along with the DVDs. One of our more complainy staffers said she'd had a patron ask what we were going to do to prevent theft, when we move the DVDs out. She told him they've really always been on the honor system. The boss said to just say security measures will be in place, by which he means we will be adding two cameras to the area. Which, fine, but that does nothing for the people who take the cases away from the area before they stow them in their bags. She went on to say she expected it would only be the teens who would be a problem. I told her she was sadly, sadly mistaken.
Anyway, it was not much of a meeting, and I was sad that I had dragged my diseased self out for it. And then, when we had wrapped up, I told the boss that I wouldn't be back for the shift later, since the cold was winning for the moment.
And then I came home and had to call in about Singer. He didn't eat last night, he wouldn't touch the food I gave him this morning (with the antibiotic in it), and when I tried to give him the medicine out of the dropper, he shrieked when I touched his mouth and flung himself away. The vet's wife said she gave him the Fancy Feast that is cut up stuff in gravy, and he ate a whole can of it yesterday afternoon. So, I'll have to drag out and buy some of that, and see if he'll eat this evening. If not, I call again tomorrow and the vet's wife may have to bring a syringe to inject his medicine. Because she agrees that it would be a bad thing to hurt him any further with his damaged jaw.
OK. So, I might try to sleep again, since I'm dragging. Sure, it didn't work last night, too much congestion, but hope springs eternal. Later, I will go out to the store for cat food.
