It's over (except for the crying)

I thought it was bad that the vet didn't call this afternoon to give a progress report on Singer. His wife just called me now, to say that, although he rallied some overnight, today he crashed. His liver shut down, he was completely non-responsive, and it was time to let him go. He wasn't aware at all, so I didn't go up to try to say goodbye.

Really, I've been saying goodbye to him for awhile now.

And they were saying things like, it looked like it might have been feline infectious peritonitis, which is the feline AIDS, and that he might have carried it since he was young, and it just developed now from the stress on his immune system. Which... now I get to worry about the other cats. Even though only a small percentage of cats who carry coronavirus have it develop into FIPV.

Now I believe I'll go clear out the arrangements I had to have in place for him to live here with my mean cats who abused him.

Rest in peace, Singer. You had a very tough life, but you were one of the sweetest cats I've known. I wish I could have made it better for you than I did.

I'm so sorry. I'm sure Singer knew he was loved. Many hugs to you.

I'm sorry. You did your best to give him a better life than he had on the streets. I'm sure he knew he was loved.

*HUGS*

I'm so sorry for your loss. Singer sounded like a great cat, and he was well-loved.
