SO not doing well
So far, I have decided against going to the emergency room this evening.
I suspect I am just dealing poorly with the fact that this is all new territory for me. The gripping pain in my lower back, down to my hips? Muscle strain, or something to do with my kidneys? Or, hey, some of the pain is at the bottom of my ribcage, isn't that the range for women's heart attack? I took an extra-strength Tylenol at noon, and it helped relieve the pain, but then I got some wrap-around pain from back to front on my left side. WHY?
The awful pain in my stomach with gurgling and cramping? Yes, there is a gastro-intestinal bug going around. Or is it something else? Sure, I did have some diarrhea this afternoon, but I haven't eaten anything since I tried half an orange and a little yogurt around 2, which my stomach told me was not really a good idea after all, despite having been feeling like I was hungry. I haven't been drinking any water, most of the day, which is bad for my kidneys. But I drank about six ounces at 4, and triggered more stomach cramping.
My sinuses are feeling like they will explode out of my face, but I hesitate to try taking decongestant. I took an ibuprofen at 5, and my stomach didn't thank me for that. Sure, it's hard on my stomach and I didn't try to eat anything with it, but the back pain was spasm-y and I was going crazy. Now the back pain has eased off- would it do that if it were kidneys? I would have to drink a lot of water if I took the decongestant, because my body would need it to loosen the sinus congestion. Good for my kidneys and my congestion, or making trouble for my stomach again?
And if I want to try to eat something, logic tells me it should be low-fiber, since my stomach is ooky. The only thing I have that would fit that is to peel and boil a potato. Which... yeah, I could try that. I am feeling less like I will keel over at this point, and the stomach is feeling more hungry-growling than upset-growling.
So. No emergency room right at the moment. But I will keep monitoring my temperature. All bets are off if it goes up.

If this is the same stomach thing that a coworker had, I will still be feeling ooky for a few more days, but largely functional. Which is good, since I need to go to the store today.
I hope you maintain steadily for the time until you have your surgery. Chronic pain is not for sissies, is it?
