Before I forget
I had e-mailed OPERS about the continued "pending" status of my retirement application, and I did get an e-mail back from them late yesterday. They told me I am good to go, my retirement will go into effect January 1, as will my health insurance.
Then they disclosed that the "still pending because you haven't filed all the needed paperwork" message refers to the fact that they have not yet received the "end of employment certification" from my employer. Which... can't be sent to them UNTIL I HAVE ENDED MY EMPLOYMENT. Yes, that's right, the fact that they did not disclose this very important fact, that the paperwork not yet filed CAN'T BE FILED yet, has led to me stressing, more and more, for weeks. I told the clerk treasurer, and her take on it was that OPERS is merely trying their best to make the process as overwhelmingly stressful and horrible as they possibly can. I tend to agree with her.
So. Load off my stress levels, that's for sure.
