Staff meeting highlights- when I mentioned that it's difficult, particularly with phone callers, to come up with small talk while we are waiting for the much-slower web-based ILS to do... ANYTHING, the boss smirked and said it was all part of the patron interaction we needed to develop.
If there were any clearer sign that I need to be out of there, I can't think of a one.
Then today, randomly, the connection to the Internet went out. We were down for an hour and a half. By which I mean we had nothing we could do for anyone. So, the computer guy loves that he doesn't have to do squat about backing up or maintaining server integrity, and we get to suffer- as do the patrons.
And tomorrow, bizarrely, we will be overstaffed, particularly for a Saturday (Saturday full staff is four people. Tomorrow? Seven people are working). AND YET, I still have a full 4-hour Rover1 shift scheduled. Every day next week, too, I have Rover1 time scheduled.
REALLY gotta find other work I can do, so I can take my retirement and be out of there.
