Pretty sure I'm done for today
Apr. 29th, 2012 04:21 pmI did make it out to mow. Twice, even. I got the back yard that you can see from the street all mowed, and I started the horrific mess that is the fenced-in yard.
I'm pretty sure that fenced-in yard is going to take me all summer, if I don't hire help.
But that was nearly two hours of mowing, and almost two tanks of gas in the mower. Because I really am that pathetic. And towards the end of the second mowing session, when the gas was getting low in the tank but hadn't run out yet, my knees started that severe cracking every time I shifted or took a step. So I am fairly certain I will just have to wait and see how the weather is tomorrow, to try to catch the front yard.
And, in sad (but I'm trying to think of it as heartening) news, the big maple tree in front of the house is trying to leaf out, finally. After the leaves just shriveled up on the branches last fall, which led me to realize it was infected with some kind of wilt, I really thought it was done. So, it is clearly unhealthy, but this makes me wonder if there is anything I can do for it, you know? I got the impression that, with wilt, it's just in the soil and you should forget about it, and try a tree that isn't affected in that location. But this tree grew nearly 40 years with no problem, so why would it suddenly develop wilt?
Well, it's on the list. With the many, many other, very expensive things I need to take care of for the house. And that makes me feel depressed, so I will instead go back to what I started on this post.
I MOWED! TWICE in the SAME DAY! (I am trying to learn to take my wins as they happen, however small they may be.)
