So I took today off because it's the Kentucky Derby. I only have basic cable so I can't wallow in sports TV coverage all afternoon, but there is online. And, on the kentuckyderby.com website, they have video clips- including one that is labeled "Terry Quinn walks the Kentucky Derby red carpet." To which I thought, hmmm, I don't know any Terry Quinns, but that sure does look like Terry O'Quinn. And yeah, when you actually go to the video, they do identify him as Terry O'Quinn.
It was a cute clip- he said he didn't know anything about any of the contenders, but a 6-year-old girl told him to bet on Hansen, so he figured if a 6-year-old knows about it, it's a sure bet. And he did know enough that when the interviewer remarked about "it would be the first white horse to win the Derby" he noted it wasn't white, it was light grey.
Of course, the video clips don't cover things like the morning practice being canceled from the heavy storms, and the track being sloppy at 8 am, with 50% chance of rain showers all day, so who knows what it will be when the Derby goes?
I wonder how hard it would be to find reports from the undercard races?
And also, Hansen is not the only unusual-looking horse in the race this time. I find myself fascinated with Done Talking, but I have to admit, for sheer glamorous beauty, it's hard to tear my eyes away from Trinniberg, who just seems to photograph extra-well or something.
