Well, *that* didn't work

monkey5sAfter mowing this evening, I had pain. It wasn't unexpected. I wanted to wait until closer to bedtime to take ibuprofen, because I was hoping to get a call from the fam about when they would be having the s-i-l's birthday dinner/mother's day celebration tomorrow (well, later today, now). And I expected to fall asleep when the ibuprofen kicked in.
I did lie down around 10, though, because I felt so rotten. Didn't really sleep, though. I finally concluded around midnight that the niece would have been home from work by then, and was obviously not calling me. So I got ready for bed and took my pain medication.
I've been wide awake since then. The ibuprofen hasn't taken all the pain away, so there's lingering aches and minor muscle spasms, and I can tell it will take a third pill to get past that. But at the moment I am so completely awake, and mentally clear, that it feels like I will never be sleeping again. There was no comfortable way to lie, so I got up.
Not real sure what I'm going to do with my time, but I'm definitely not sleepy. And yet, I will take another ibuprofen and try again, probably in a half hour or so.
