Another weekend, another three mowings
May. 14th, 2012 05:52 pmBut I still didn't get as much done as before. I was unable to get my painful knees to work enough to get me up the big step from the backyard to what was a drive beside the garage, to move the mower into the fenced-in part of the backyard, and also to mow down the weeds on the old drive. I had to let go of the bar that keeps the motor going, and I just did not have it in me to try to start it again.
But I did get the easily-seen parts of the yard mowed. And I have only minor shaking of my hands right now (I'm still decompressing).
I did not get any other yard work done, nor have I managed any housecleaning. Right now I'm contemplating making the world's blandest supper (baked brown rice and lentils, but I don't have broth to cook them in, so it will be just water, and my only onions are the sweet Vidalias, which aren't really baking onions- but I will season the water with ancho chili powder and cumin, and I think I still have a couple of cloves of garlic) which will give me enough to eat for four nights altogether, and am looking forward to the season finale of Hawaii Five-0 tonight.
Now I have to see if I can get the cat in. Chloe was chased by a dog that was running loose while its people were yelling for it and calling it to come. She went shooting around the garage towards the overgrown part of the back yard, where I expect she went to ground under the deck.
ETA: Note to self: next time, don't forget to cover the casserole tightly with foil before you put it into the oven. Just the lid to the casserole leaves you with crunchy rice swimming in soup, instead of cooked rice and lentils in a mostly solid mass. However, the ancho chili powder and cumin were winners. Did not miss the broth at all.
