The week was pretty awful, pain-wise. I completely failed at doing Rover work after I re-injured my worse knee Thursday evening. The supervisor Friday actually scheduled people to cover my shift while I sat and did computer work and answered the phone. Later in the day, a coworker who wasn't scheduled that day stopped in with the results of the MRI she had to have for her severely-compromised elbow (the tendon is mostly-detached from the bone. Surgery will be scheduled when she goes back to the specialist next week).

She and I worked yesterday, and we agreed that, between us, we could have a whole, sound person. Separately, though, not so helpful to anyone. And it was LEGO Club Saturday, and it was slamming, usage-wise. At the end of the day, the boss had still not gotten the schedule done for next week (it was his Saturday to work), most of the sorting carts had quite a bit on them (usually the page can get it done- but she was pressed into service backing up front desk in place of me), and I guess the final total for attendance was a little under 500. For us, that's a big Saturday.

I had to run home and roast vegetables for the retirement dinner we were having that evening. I actually managed to get my dish back to the library before the start time for the event, which was astonishing. Too bad I had forgotten to get the Parmesan cheese when I bought the vegetables on Thursday. They were delicious without it, but it would have been better with.

The dinner itself was less-well-attended than we had feared it might be. There were still enough people that most of the food was almost gone by the end. I made it home with about 3 cups of leftover vegetables- and I had fixed a double batch.

When I was saying goodnight to one of the retirees, she asked if I would be following them into retirement soon. I admitted that, having examined my finances, I knew I wasn't going to be able to do so this year. Maybe next year. So, admitting that out loud felt... relieving, sort of. A little despairing, since I was hoping to be able to give my knees a rest, but this is what it is. Work towards June 2013.

Also, the girl from whom I had ordered Girl Scout cookies was in attendance- and she brought my cookies. When I got home, I opened my box of Samoas, but there was no rakishly-handsome Thin Mint in the box by mistake. Bummer. < /end arcane SGA fanfic reference>

Today I have gotten enough sleep that life no longer feels quite so horrible. The knees have reset to standard pain levels, and the nasal congestion is back to normal sinus problems levels. I will continue to do NOTHING today, then tomorrow I have to run errands and get cat food. Ugh.
