I will say I enjoyed having three days off work- and I didn't even have to remind the boss that I needed another day off for the holiday (my regular weekend is Sunday-Monday). I did not, however, get anything done from the long list of things I should have managed. I swept some, I made it to the grocery this afternoon (and what a pain that was- the knee nearly quit on me completely), but that is pretty much it. Didn't make it out to a movie (not sure I can stand in line for the tickets anymore) and I didn't feel like watching the DVDs I brought home either. Blah.

We've had another massive bloom of flea hatching. This time I managed to get spray on three of the cats, plus about two spritzes onto Chloe before she flipped out and I let go before she broke her leg. It gave them about half a day of peace. The fleas bit me instead, for that time period.

I am tired. Tired of fleas, endless flea dirt everywhere, cats scratching frantically, tired.

On the not-awful side, however, I did get to read Bitterblue this weekend. I had greatly enjoyed Graceling when I read it awhile back, and was thrilled to get my hands on the sequel. It was very exciting, and felt well-plotted. The author did some things very well, but she did drop the ball a little on other things that were carried along from before (and I was bemused to see that, in her author's notes on Bitterblue, she apologized for disabling a character, then doing a "magical healing" of him to compensate for it in Graceling. She stated that she has since learned a lot about the politics of disability). Overall I am glad I read it- and now I'll look for the "companion" to the two, Fire.

I also am pursuing a copy of Fly by night from a different library, since the one I got from Chesterville was bound missing a folio. A lot happened in those 20 pages, yanno! I just hope this one is intact. While I was backtracking to remember the title of the book (since our Children's and YA librarian was willing to put it on her order list) I discovered that there is a sequel, Fly trap! I did find it on ILL, but it might still be on "New/Keep for local patrons" status still. I'll get it eventually.

Now I want to get through the sequel to Debris, which is Suited. I had passed the first one along to our computer guy after I read it, and he thought it was really good as well. Now he's waiting on the hold list for Suited, since I beat him to first in line on it.

So there you have it. This weekend: reading yes, watching movies no. And lots of fleas.
