The guy across the street from my kitchen window is out on his back deck wearing t-shirt and shorts. I haven't had a door open since I let the cat back out this morning at 9, so all I know is there's been a LOT of wind.

Accuweather tells me that our town is currently 72 degrees.

I saw some of the daffodils in the back yard starting to bloom, though the ones up here by the kitchen are still just buds. This has been a crazy year- the windflowers have been and gone, and usually they come after the daffs and last a long time. I had feared that my two little snowdrops had finally just given up- only to see them bloom, looking really confused, a couple of weeks ago when there was another round of crocus giving it a try. The magnolia trees in my neighborhood (two old, well-established ones) don't look too promising- there is no evidence of buds on them. I'm afraid they might have started up during one of our extremely freakishly warm spells, and then got bitten by the next round of low temperatures and snow.

Today I want to take some mail to the post office, so I will look for the forsythia, to see if anything looks like it's ready to go. I don't think anyone is quite willing to call it spring yet, though- we've had too many cold snowy storms after warm-ups this year for any of us to believe this is it. Yet.

ETA: I was wrong about the windflowers! They just didn't bloom continuously, like in previous years. I have another round of them popping up in various locations. Yay!
