I'm no longer used to getting up and getting anything done in the mornings. Today, though, I had a dentist's appointment at 9:20, and it would take almost half an hour to get there. So, up I was.
On the way back, I stopped at the post office, and at the village offices to drop off my sewer payment, and the library to return three more books for Summer Reading Club, and then I stopped at Kroger for, well, mainly produce. (I would have splurged on donuts at Kroger's but the were very helpfully OUT OF THEM. Like, NO DONUTS AT ALL. So they saved me from a bunch of empty calories there. Go, Kroger!)
Dragging myself back into the house, I looked at all the yard work I need to do, and thought about all the housework I really need to get to, and sighed. It's 91 degrees out, I've sweated through my clothes just from the walking around I've done so far, and I am now sitting with the fan on me.
Maaaayyyyybe I can drag myself out again tomorrow morning and do yard work before the temperature goes up so high. And maybe tonight it will cool off enough to at least do some sweeping inside without feeling like I'm making more of a mess by dripping sweat.
It's been a weird June. We are way short on groundwater already, and the temperature in June varied from unpleasantly chilly to way too hot, with nearly no stops in between. Saturday night we had lots of lightning and thunder, but not a drop of rain. Last night was more lightning and thunder, and fortunately we did get a little rain. Oh, and last night we also had flash flood warnings here, because the extremely isolated thunderstorms that mostly passed just north of us, again, dropped a good 3 inches or so of rain over our watershed.
And now I'm almost dried off, and am contemplating lunch. At an hour that usually has me just finished with breakfast.
