This morning the first truck showed up just before 7am. I know this because I was standing there in my nightgown letting the cat out after he ate his breakfast. By the time I headed out the door to work around 8:30, both streets of the intersection were thick with trucks and equipment. They were unloading a big piece of remote-controlled drilling equipment as I was going to my car.
This evening, we are down to just three enormous holes, instead of two big ones, a medium-sized one, and two small ones. Yeah, they enlarged one of the small holes (the one beside the house across the street from the front of my house), but they filled in two of the other holes. The big pit in front of my house is now sporting some festive yellow flexible pipe-covering, in loops that are visible from the street. They also swapped out the left-behind bucket loader for the backhoe. I will have to guess they'll be working tomorrow, it seems strange they would leave equipment behind if they were going to leave things for three days.
My night last night was less insomniac, but still nowhere near enough sleep. I went to bed at 10:30. I last looked at the clock at 11:30, pretty sure I fell asleep soon after that. I woke up at 3:30 to go to the bathroom- and then I was not sleepy, again. Just tired. I think I got another hour along in there, possibly two. The cats got me up at 6:45 to feed them, and I just kept plodding along after that.
We are having a heat wave this weekend- today it was 90 degrees when we left the library at 5:40. It's going to get hotter tomorrow and Sunday, then cool off to today's temperatures for the holiday Monday. I am really not sure I will be mowing this weekend. If I do, it will have to be if I can drag myself out of bed early Sunday, because high heat and humidity is hard enough, but adding heavy physical labor is just asking for me to have heat stroke. Luckily, there has been no rain for a couple of weeks, so the grass isn't growing like it was.
Ah, and now I hear Miss Pansy puking up the yogurt I gave her as I tried to get her take the naturopathic tablets I got for urinary tract health. She carefully licked around all the little bits of chicken liver-flavored tablet, which was impressive. Too bad it didn't stay down. I am ridiculously tired of cleaning up cat puke.
