Dental work
Apr. 8th, 2013 10:51 pmI had an issue with an almond in my morning oatmeal last week, and cracked a molar. As long as no food gets on that side of my mouth when I eat, it's mostly fine. But yeah, needed to call the dentist.
Called this morning. Sadly, the woman who speaks very slowly answered the phone. I'm pretty sure she's related to one of the dentists in the practice. I told her which dentist I visited, and said that I had changed my insurance at the first of the year and wondered if my dentist accepted the new one. Instead of asking me which company, she said, "Oh, we're out of network for most providers."
FORTUNATELY, I knew she was a brick wall, and that I would be able to find out more when I came in, and talked to one of the real office workers. So I did not point out that he did, in fact, accept my previous insurance, so could she just, you know, check on the new one?
I told her that I wanted an appointment anyway, because a cracked molar is not the time to be trying to find a new dentist. So could she see when his next available time might be? She got his appointment schedule, and then told me, "Hmmm, he had an opening this morning." I realized I was being tested here. I carefully refrained from commenting anything about how that was really the opposite of helpful for scheduling me, you know? What with TIME TRAVEL not being a reality at the moment. She finally landed on Thursday as his next open appointment. The EIGHT AM one.
Of course I took it.
Except, then, I spelled my name for her, she went looking for my account, finally got back to me and asked if I had perhaps not been in for a few years? Uh, NOPE, OPPOSITE. I had a regular cleaning this past December, and have my next appointment scheduled for this coming June. So she put me on hold, and I dunno, went away somewhere, took a break, who knows? Eventually, she must have asked someone for help, and got back to me with (I PRESUME) the correct account. If I don't get a reminder call Wednesday afternoon, I might call in to make sure I'm really on the schedule. Except, you know, I might get her again.
