Recently, we here in central Ohio were feeling DONE with winter. The weather had warmed up enough that the only snow left was in the heavily-sheltered north-facing places, plus the big piles of plowed snow. So the storm that came through yesterday, although it was nowhere near as bad as predicted (and far less severe than New England is getting from it), was really just... no. No, we don't want to do this.

Fortunately I did not have to leave the house today. Which was nice. And I was grateful. But the wind, the wind was bad this afternoon. The garage for this house is really a small barn from back when the house was first built (1868-ish), sadly pretty unkempt now. And the doors on it tend to buckle and thud when the wind comes from the north. If they're not latched, they can blow open. But they've been getting worse and worse for years, dry rot eating at the frame, the hinges getting loose, and so on. I mean, there's too much junk in there to use as an actual garage-as-shelter-for-car, so I've not been too bothered by it. But it is on the giant List of Doom and Home Repair, just pretty far down it.

Jumped up many spots today. The guy who does the lawn mowing for me, who lives down the block, stopped as he was driving by this afternoon, to tell me he was going to move the one garage door off the front of the car. It seems this bout of wind was too much for the frame to endure, so the looser door detached itself and fell over. I thanked him, asked if it looked like the car was damaged (not really), but did not go out myself to look. It's not like I can do anything about it right now, you know? But it is tiring to think about.

Wind damage is the pits. My sympathies.
