Party in the neighborhood!

monkey5sThis afternoon I heard a lot of kids clearly playing hard, and I had no idea what was going on. Where I live, the sound from different places nearby can reflect off buildings and confuse where the source lies. It was loudest from the back door, and I finally decided it must be one of the houses across the block from me. I knew there are small kids in the house on the corner across from me, but these kids sounded older. And they sounded like they were having a GREAT time! Happy screams and excited chatter, lots of yelling, but no one sounded upset or like they were crying. I thought it was a super-large birthday party.
Then the music started. I recognized the drummer (he practices a lot), and it sounded like this was his garage band, all together in his place now. They... do not have a large repertoire, "House of the Rising Sun" has played at least three times. BUT! I went to get pizza at about 7pm, and was looking forward to going around the block to see.
What I saw was a GIGANTIC bouncy castle in the back yard of the house one down from the corner, and lots of people in that yard and the one on the corner. Could hear the band, but not see quite where they were, other than the back yard.
The band has wound down, now there is music that I can't tell if it's recorded or another group (instinct says recorded, I'm not hearing applause). So my tentative concept is that, instead of a super exciting birthday party, this might be a family reunion? I guess I'm at a loss as to what kind of party would include a bouncy castle and live music in the evening.
Mostly, though, I am just happy to hear so much life in my neighborhood!
