Today's fails
Feb. 14th, 2012 09:16 pmHeard back from the vet about Singer. He was running a couple of degrees of fever when he got there. They checked his ear, and looked for infected teeth or gums, or an abcess in his throat, and they finally realized the problem was actually in his jaw, at the hinge. There is some kind of infection, whether it's from a deep cat bite or maybe a small fracture of the bone (hit by a car or fell and whacked his face), but anyway, that's where the infection is, and they started him on antibiotics last night.
After I hung up the phone, I remembered that this is the same place he seemed to have problems over a year ago, that they felt was probably a mouth infection of some kind. The infection was nearly done when they saw him, and they gave him just a shot of antibiotics and he was fine. So, I don't know if this is the same problem or something else. If it's that horrifically painful bone infection that makes eating nearly impossible for cats, I don't know what I'm going to do.
And in other faileriffic news, I was looking forward to seeing how my work schedule would look this week. I had been so unhappy about being assigned Rover-1 shifts every day last week, and I had squawked about it. This week? Rover-1 every day, same as before. Oh, no, wait- this time there are THREE days of only 3-hour shifts (instead of just two days). But still, EVERY DAY.
So, yeah. Gotta get things squared away and figure out how I'm going to manage to live on my retirement. I'm already getting too depressed not to leave in June.
