The vet's wife dropped Singer off at the house while I was still at work. I came home and found that she had opened the carrier so he could get out.

Apparently having her come in with Singer was too much for Chloe to handle. She's in hiding, somewhere. I went ahead and put her food down anyway, even though the others will eat it all. I figure if she doesn't show, she can't be that hungry.

More of a worry was that Singer didn't eat, either. I gave him only canned food, since he's not able to eat anything hard for now, but he wasn't interested. I'm not going to worry tonight, but if he still doesn't want to eat in the morning, I don't know how I'm going to get the liquid antibiotic into him. The vet's wife said I should mix it with a small spoonful of canned food and give to him first, before I give the rest of his food.

And I personally spent today wishing my upper respiratory whatever would do something, anything, to make it seem like there was progress. I can treat the congestion, but it still feels raw and awful, and my throat is even worse from the drainage. The last dose of decongestant wore off around 6:30 this evening, so I was choking on the thick gunk for the rest of work. Tomorrow morning is staff meeting. I'm so much worse in the morning, that this should be entertaining. Well, for some value of entertainment.

Today's work fun had the boss telling me that I have to weed the music CD collection. His weeding bible tells him anything that hasn't moved in 2 years should go, and he'll let me veto some of the culls, but I have to keep in mind that there is a cap on the collection. Yes, in fact, this is the first time I've heard that I have a cap on the collection.

I had my usual freak-out overreaction, at first. Then I thought about it. And you know, when the boss tells you that you should weed a collection that you have single-handedly built, by using exactly ONE criterion for selection to discard, then that is what I will do. I also think that I will no longer be reading reviews of CDs to aid in selection, but just order whatever is top-selling.

Amusingly, to me, we will be saying goodbye to most of the classical music from this move.

I will chalk it up to the "mixed signals" department. He told me at my evaluation that he loves our music CD collection for its variety and depth. Of course, he also told me I wasn't expected to tear myself up doing Rover work. One month later, he's scheduling me for Rover shifts every day I work. So, you know. Whatever.

ETA: Chloe turned up, most unhappy that there was no food left but bits of dry food. Aaaand, I went into my bedroom to change, and discovered that there is a spot of cat pee on my comforter- probably from when the vet's wife came in. Of course, my washer and dryer can't hold a comforter this big, so I would have to pay lots of money to wash it in the laundromat. I may try just spot-cleaning it, after I swap it out for the old, thinner comforter. I mean, at least it's on a bunched-up area, and the spot isn't large enough to have soaked through to the other bedding.
