This is why I don't like to get the mail
Feb. 24th, 2012 07:12 pmToday's harvest of bills included the yearly car insurance rendering. I have both homeowner and car insurance through the same company, for the discount. The homeowner insurance jumped 15% back in December when it came up for renewal. Now the car insurance is jumping 15% as well. The health insurance we carry at work jumped about that much, too, now that I think about it.
Meanwhile, my hourly wages? Did not go up at all.
This means I really do need to start calling around to insurance carriers to see if I can find a lower rate. What a slimy, sleazy racket it is. And I am still sick, and the vet left a message that they're keeping Singer through the weekend, and will probably be doing surgery on him. Which, I haven't yet caught up with them to get more details yet. But yeah it looks like I'm going to be paying the vet bill for years, at this rate.
And the boss got the schedules done for next week this afternooon, and he also posted a notice on the staff blog to remind us that covering the floor was going to be tight for the next few weeks, due to staff turnover. Which, really is amusing, since I have certainly already run into that more than once, where I was supposed to be able to do the work I have to focus on without doing other things, only guess what? There was no one to answer phones, and the person who was supposed to be backing up front desk was otherwise occupied. And he says it will get worse, before it can get better. I have doubts that it will get better, since we are not going to be any less short-staffed.
So... really not a good day/week/month/life at all, just right at the moment.

Date: 2012-02-25 12:34 am (UTC)After a day on which two librarians called in sick, while one was on vacation, and we've been short-staffed since last March, I feel your pain.
