Personal FAIL
Feb. 25th, 2013 08:49 pmBeen having trouble sleeping/getting up in a timely manner. This morning I thought about staying up when I got up to feed the cats at 7:30, but after I read for an hour I felt like lying down again.
Got up, finally, around noon. It was still a beautiful day, warming up, clear blue sky and sunshine. Still, I was not too with-it. I was stumbling around my "morning" routine of getting the coffee started and washing up the dishes from yesterday, while trying to think about what the home equity line of credit would mean, in terms of desperately-needed repairs to the house. The coffeemaker is on the counter to the left of the sink, where the dirty dishes get parked if they don't get set in the sink. I was absently listening to its gurgle and hiss, until it finally got itself done. I put the last pan in the drying rack to the right of the sink and then turned to the coffeemaker.
And thought, why is the water in the pot clear?
Momentary panic, how did it break, it's practically a brand new unit, why is there NO COFFEE? Rewind my actions from the steps of coffee prep-- oh. Yeah, I washed the parts, reassembled the pot and lid, poured the water into the tank, put the filter in the basket, and put the basket into its holder and closed the lid, then turned on the switch.
Totally bypassed the actual coffee part of the prep.
My second try did include coffee. I put in extra, since I was clearly in desperate need. But I have to admit, I was tempted to just write the whole day off and go back to bed.
