REALLY bad start to my day
Oct. 13th, 2012 08:32 pmThe alarm went off at 6:30, but I had gotten extra sleep last night because I was feeling poorly yesterday (MASSIVE sinus congestion headache), so it was OK. Got out of bed and realized a cat was sleeping on my clean clothes. NOT. GOOD. We're still fighting fleas here. So I yelled at her to get down, and was shaking out the shirt I was going to wear today, and then realized that incontinence had sneaked up on me- yeah. So I had THAT to clean up, after I trudged painfully through the house to the bathroom. This trip takes me through the utility room, where I saw that a cat had also tried to get onto the folded clean clothes on top of the dryer- and knocked them onto the floor. All that leaning over was difficult. And, yes, absolutely had to get upstairs for a shower.
Dragged myself up for that; then, after the shower I was getting ready to put on the almond oil that I use for my dry skin. Guess who dropped the opened bottle of oil and had it roll across the floor? Luckily it had a dispenser top so there were dribbles of oil instead of a flood. But, yeah, more leaning over to clean that up.
By the time I wobbled my way downstairs, I knew it was a very bad day. I usually leave the walker in the living room, to help me get up from the chair. But I snagged it to get me through the rest of my morning. Was able to get dressed OK, but knew I was running late. And then, as I got the last of the coffee out of the carafe and tried to put it back onto the coffeemaker, it slipped out of my carpal tunnelly-numb hand, slid off the counter and fell onto the glass bottles that were waiting to go to recycling. Where it broke, quite exuberantly (and freaked out the cat that was lying by the register under that table). So I had to clean THAT up, and really only had time to sweep with the broom. It had fortunately broken into big pieces, mostly. Though I haven't moved the recycling to see how many glass bits are lurking there.
By this time I was seriously late, and was putting the broom and dustpan back in the utility room when I bumped the plastic watering can and it fell and bounced around loudly. The cats were all seriously disturbed by then. And I just hobbled away and left it on the floor- I was pretty much out of spoons for the day already, and I hadn't even left for work.
I was ten minutes late, and considered it a minor miracle. But my pain levels were staying too high to function on the Rover shift I was supposed to do from 11-2. Fortunately my coworkers covered for me- AGAIN.
I spent the day feeling worse and worse- apparently I have picked up the intestinal bug that is making the rounds, in addition to the sinus crud. Now that I'm home, I'm finding it impossible to rest, because of the muscle and joint pains in addition to the sinus drainage and the uh, usual intestinal upset feeling.
I did go onto the website of the store where I bought my coffeemaker (not that long ago)- I didn't remember seeing any replacement carafes, but hope springs eternal, yanno? It's one of the little 4-cup coffeemakers, bought it for $14.95. Went to the Mr. Coffee website to see if they actually sold replacement carafes. They do, you can buy one for $12.95 plus shipping. AR AR AR! Looks like I'll buy another coffeemaker, instead, next time I can make it to Meijer's. Which will have to be SOON- because, NO COFFEE! Wah!!
Now I hope I can get some rest, eventually. The intestinal bug is supposed to move through and be gone quickly, so that would just leave the rest of the crap to deal with. Really not the way I wanted to spend my weekend.
