Interesting to me
Mar. 19th, 2013 04:18 pmThe last two times I preordered a video from Amazon, they had it shipped and in my hands the day before the actual release date. Both times were in orders of more than one item, to qualify for free shipping.
This time, preordering The Hobbit? Today is the official release date, and Amazon hasn't even shipped it yet. I will presume it's because of the licensing shenanigans that they have been trumpeting, about how it will be blocked from online services like Netflix for however long.
Of course, I could have just paid more for it and gotten it at a store. But if I felt like going out like that, I bet I would have managed to see it in the theater. Hmm, I wonder if it's still in the second-run theaters? Amazon is guessing I might receive my order next week, and I could surely persuade myself out of the house before then. After all, my TV is old, small, and poor-quality. Even a second-run theater would be a far better option for my first viewing.
