Got the call from the doctor's office with my blood test results from my visit there last week.

Cholesterol levels = improved! The LDL went down 15 points- it's still a little elevated (110, optimal is under 100), the HDL went up 19 points (from 21 to 40- that's now the low end of good, we women should aim to get it over 50), and triglycerides went down 62 points, though they were still within normal before.

This time they ran an A1C test for blood sugar, instead of the usual blood glucose test. It was 5.8, which he said was a little high but not too bad. I did my own research later, and normal results for non-diabetic people is a range of 4.5-6.0.

Here's the one thing that irritates me about my doctor. She wanted to offer me a prescription for Metformin to help me get my blood sugar down. METFORMIN, the diabetes drug. EVEN THOUGH I DON'T HAVE DIABETES. And the jolly side-effects of Metformin include the whole raft of gastro-intestinal miseries, but also the worst ones can be lactic acidosis and liver failure. I politely declined the offer.

She has also consistently tried to get me to take statin drugs for my cholesterol. I refused those consistently, as well, since I am fond of my liver just the way it is. At least they've stopped pushing those on me.

Oh, and the best news? My potassium was fine. YAY! The whatever-it-is on my adrenal gland is not messing with my blood chemistry (at least in that regard). So that's a relief.
