I got the last section of bushes hacked back from where they were blocking the public sidewalk. This follows yesterday's work of getting the largest section of bushes pruned- on both sides. For this last section, my goal was only to get the sidewalk cleared, so they will need more work. But people can walk on the sidewalk now!

Afterwards, I sat and rested for a couple of hours. But then I went back out and mowed the front yard. OK, it was a half-assed mowing job. But the main areas that people see are mowed. That nearly did me in, to the point where I had to go get ice cream.

Rejuvenated by the massive caloric intake, I came home and got the broom out and finally swept the bulk of the dried grass and leaf litter off the public walk. I should have done it after the first mowing, when I was knocking down the really tall grass. But now it was dried out and fluffy, for the most part. Except for where it was matted down and trying to make soil, you know. But! Now people can not only walk along without being snagged by aggressively overgrown bushes, they also don't have to wade through stuff on the walk!

As for me, I have taken a pain reliever, and am tentatively scheduling tomorrow for a "non-functional due to excessive arthritis and strained muscles" day. My hands hurt, and I have also managed to get a blister on the side of my middle finger, from pruning branches that were really not willing to cooperate.
