monkey5sWent to a double-feature at the cinema nearest where I live. It's what, about 12 miles away down the freeway? Maybe not quite that far. I saw The Internship, followed by The Heat. They were both good, but The Heat was terrific fun! Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy were hilarious together!
Little weirdness while the credits were running on the last one, though- the exit up by the screen started blowing open, revealing a(nother) torrential downpour. I was delayed getting out because the near restroom was closed for cleaning when I came out, so I had to go across to the restroom on the other side of the cinema. Fortunately, that was long enough for it to subside to sprinkles, but with heavy black clouds coming fast and loads of thunder and lightning.
Which hit when I was getting to the turn to get on the freeway. Along with gale force winds. I stayed in the far right lane, since it wasn't going to be that far to my exit. And my lane did feel that we needed to go a more reasonable speed, like as low as 35 mph when it was raining THAT hard. I was more unhappy with the way my car was being blown across the lane as we were buffeted by the wind.
By the time I got to Kroger's in town, it was merely sprinkling. When I came out of Kroger's, it was raining a little harder, but still not bad. I got my bags in from the car in light rain, and now it's stopped entirely, but the clouds are not going away. At least the thunder is over.
Yesterday someone alleged that the persistent storms should end by Friday, and then it will be completely dry. First, I'll believe it when I see it, and second, I hope that doesn't mean no more rain for the rest of the summer. Just give us a leetle break, plz?
