Fandom frustrations
Sep. 5th, 2013 09:03 pmI am way too unable to get around to attend conventions. But I do still enjoy reading about them. I was searching for general science-fiction/fantasy cons in Ohio, and came across a list put up by a group in Dayton (honestly, Dayton seems to be a very active place, whenever I look for something Ohio-related online, someone in Dayton seems to have been wondering before me- and compiled their search results and posted them!). They included anything within a day's drive of Dayton, so there's all the Indiana and Illinois cons, too.
There's a Maneki Neko Con at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Seriously, how adorable is that? It's the last Friday and Saturday of this month. No, I can't go. The (not very well done, sorry guys) website includes a roundup of the most popular maneki neko stories, and they note that you can still buy t-shirts (with the maneki neko they made for this con, using their school colors). I was charmed. I want one. But guess what? That's right, error on the link. Yup, now I really want one! AR AR AR!
Ah well. Guess I'll just have to not spend that $15 on an online impulse buy!
