Some days things are just silly

Went to the drive-through at a fast-food place for lunch (bad monkey! You know better!). My total was $6.39. I gave her a $20 and 45 cents. She gave me back a LOT of change and flitted away. I said to the other girl who was trying to hand my sandwich through the window, "What happened? I gave her $20.45!" The cashier flitted back and snarked, "You gave me $20.35." I don't mind that much that she failed to notice the second dime, but wouldn't it have made more sense to ask the customer if they realized they only gave not quite enough to cover the change? Instead of handing over $13.96 in change? I was not coping with anything well by that time (it had been a day). And yes, the food was not great, and I got the teens who did not comprehend that some of us need napkins. Would it have made the food better if I hadn't had this unexpected interaction? I dunno. BUT I can surely use this to reinforce the fact that it's not good for me to get fast food, and I should stop it.
On the better side of the day, my nail polish is on its fourth day, with only some textural dings from before it dried completely, plus some fairly even wear at the tips. And this was the $3.00 polish from Meijer- Studio M, which I guess was renamed from the old Mossimo line (packaging is identical save the name). I found one that is pretty close to periwinkle, a little on the blue side, but it covered beautifully with two coats and is very chroma-rich, particularly in natural light! I only used one coat of ridge-filler under it, and the NYC Extra Shiny Top Coat. I was looking at it in Meijer's last week, when it was on sale for 25% off. I ended up getting the blue, a safety orange, a very bright yellow, and a copper foil (that I realized after I got home was almost the same as an old Mossimo polish I had in the drawer, except the old one was more glittery). If I had wanted a purple polish with different glitters, there were three to choose from. They actually had three different very bright orange polishes, so they appear to be intent on variety within set parameters. Or something. I have learned I can trick my other cheap and thin and instantly-chipping polishes by using two coats of ridge filler base coat, three (or, you know, four) layers of the polish, and then two top coats. But it's a stretch for my (lack of) patience. So this was a major win for me. And now I feel better! How silly is that? AR AR AR!
